Mauritius Gymkhana
Mauritius Gymkhana Club is one of the most affordable golf courses in Mauritius and reputedly the world's fourth oldest golf club outside the British Isles. Located in the centre of Mauritius in Vacoas, this relatively short par-68 layout, measuring just over 5,300 yards from the tips, places a high premium on accuracy.
Although you'll not be troubled by any water hazards here, out of bounds is a factor on several holes. The typically small hard greens will need good quality approach work, first to hit them and then to hold the ball on them. One or two holes criss-cross over each other on this relatively compact parkland layout.
A course that lays down an enjoyable and testing round, although not in the same class as the coastal championship courses in the south and east of Mauritius, which are making the island an outstanding and varied golf destination.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

The Mauritius Gymkhana Club was founded as a leisure club for British officers serving in Mauritius in the first half of the 19th century. The precise date when the Club was established is not known, however historical events point to sometime between 1834 and 1844.
Golf was played in Mauritius from the club's earliest days, although the first documented nine-hole course was constructed in 1902, by members of the British Forces.
The Mauritius Gymkhana Club claims to be the fourth oldest golf club in the world outside of the British Isles, and the oldest in the Indian Ocean. It's non-British predecesors would likely include Royal Calcutta (1829), Bothwell GC (Ratho Farm Links) in Tasmania (1839) and A.N. Other GC?
