Belle Mare Plage (Links)
Belle Mare Plage Golf Club (Links course): Located in close proximity to the Constance Belle Mare Plage resort, you'll find its Legend and Links championship golf courses. Both lay down a testing, technical challenge for your game.
The considerably more undulating Links course is based on two challenging and natural nine-hole loops, where tightish, rolling fairways, volcanic rocky outcrops and several blind tee and approach shots are included among the course defences.
Called the Links due to its folding, undulating fairways, this well-maintained and cleverly sculpted layout is both tropical and parkland in nature, without having too much in common with a traditional, Scottish, through-the-sand-dunes, links layout.
Although predominantly tree-lined, the course opens out from time to time, sometimes providing an "extra" fairway to receive those most wayward of drives. From first to last you will be confronted by rolling, undulating and often tightish fairways, as well as wonderfully scenic views onto sugar plantations in the foreground and mountain peaks in the distance.
The island's volcanic origins are clear to see, with piles of volcanic rock tucked under the hole-lining flora. Occasionally you'll find a combination of rocks, vegetation and/or small ravines cutting into or across the fairways.
Only at the downhill par-4 3rd does water threaten on the front-nine loop, but this is more than compensated by an abundance of small lakes and ponds to be negotiated on the tighter back-nine.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Golf carts compulsory.
