Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club: Nestled between the shoreline of the South China Sea and the bustling city of Kota Kinabalu, the Sutera Harbour Resort is home to a 27-hole championship golf course. The layout stretches to all corners of this 384-acre residential and leisure development, which is also home to a large marina and two luxury hotels.
The Graham Marsh-designed golf course, comprises three nine-hole loops that each play out-and-back from a central clubhouse. Each nine is characterised by a mix of tree-lined and open parkland holes, where large jigsaw bunkers provide plenty of stylish defence along the fairways and around the greens.
The Lakes-nine (holes 1-9) includes some of the most threatening water hazards, not least directly in front of its final green. The Heritage-nine (holes 10-18) is played alongside the Magellan Sutera Resort, while the Garden-nine (holes 19-27) heads past the Pacific Sutera Hotel.
The Garden-nine, at the southern end of the development, also gets you directly alongside the South China Sea for three very memorable holes. The signature 330-yard par-4 6th (hole No.24) is one of those seaside holes.
Members, their invited guests and resort guests staying at Sutera Harbour resort's Pacific Sutera Hotel and Magellan Sutera Resort can play on weekdays and weekends. Outside visitor play is not permitted.
Must book in advance. 20 holes at Sutera Harbour are floodlit for night golf.
Non-metal spike facility.
Excellent, including a 41-bay two tiered covered driving range.
Sutera Harbour Resort was constructed on reclaimed land, and designed to be a lifestyle haven and luxury resort. It is located just five minutes from the city centre of Kota Kinabalu (aka "KK"), the largest city in the East Malaysian state of Sabah, and eighth largest in all of Malaysia.
