Forest City (Classic)
Forest City Golf Resort (Classic course): Just a few miles upstream from the Port of Tanjung Pelepas container facility, and also on the banks of the Pulai River, you'll find the Forest City Golf Resort. This relatively new development includes a large luxury resort hotel, two championship golf courses, excellent practice facilities, and some real estate development.
The Classic course, the slightly younger of the two championship courses here at Forest City, was laid out on relatively flat terrain by Chinese course architect Liang Guo Kun. It plays tougher than the resort's Nicklaus designed Legacy course.
Numerous water hazards, tellingly placed sand bunkers and rolling mounds, are woven into or border the generally narrow fairways – a lot narrower than on the sibling Legacy course. Distinctive beach-like bunkering is also found around several greens, not least at the island-green par-3 6th.
The 18th is the signature hole and one of the toughest on the course. It has three distinct land areas – each separated by water. Long hitters might take on the challenge of getting there in two, but that's a seriously risky proposition with all that water around.
