Chervò Golf Hotel & Resort

3-PLUS: Good course - several memorable features; worthy of 3½ stars.

Est. 2009

Chervò Golf Hotel & Resort: with its luxury onsite accommodations and spa, Chervò is located 10 km from the shoreline of Lake Garda. In a setting of open fields and vineyards, here you can golf to your heart's content, while enjoying rural Lombardy. The centrepiece of this fully-integrated Stay&Play venue is a well-regarded 27-hole parkland golf course ... host to the 2020 Italian Open.

With the small towns of San Martino della Battaglia, and its commemorative tower to the north, and Solferino, and its battleground to the south, the golf course is laid out in three nine-hole loops ... San Martino (white), Solferino (yellow) and Benaco (Red).

The three nines are each amply laced with stylish bunkering, a mix of straightaway and doglegging holes, and three or four holes on each nine where water threatens. The championship course is complemented by a 9-hole executive course.

Pick of the holes: the closing par-5 hole on the Benaco-nine, and closing par-4 on Solferino, both arrive at the same large double-green in front of the clubhouse, their respective fairways having journeyed alongside the same small lake.

Stay&Play at Chervò: luxury onsite accommodation available, see Where2Stay section below.

Did you know?

Chervò Golf Club San Vigilio has played host to several national and international tournaments, including in 2020 the 77th Italian Open Championship (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Chervo).

Close to Chervò Golf Club is the small town of Solferino, the scene of the Battle of Solferino and San Martino, which claimed 40,000 dead and wounded from the 250,000 soldiers who fought. The aftermath of the horrific battle was witnessed by a visiting Swiss businessman, Henri Dunant. Returning to his native Geneva, Dunant wrote about his experiences in "A Memory of Solferino", which led to him co-founding the Red Cross in 1863. The 1864 Geneva Convention was also based on several of Dunant's ideas.
