Bogogno Golf Resort (Del Conte Course): Bogogno is home to two 18-hole championship courses, both designed by the renowned American architect Robert von Hagge. Golf writers are torn on which is the "better" of the two, the Bonora or the Del Conte.
The Del Conte course is more open, flatter and less water-defended than the Bonora. Although inland (versus beside the sea), it has more in common with an open "Scottish" links layout, rather than a classic Italian parkland course.
Plenty of earth-mounding has been deployed to create dune-like definition to many fairways, with significant bunkering also playing its part. As on most links layouts, close-cut grass around the greens provides plenty of chip-and-run possibilities as you close in on the hole.
Like the Bonora course, the Del Conte lays down an excellent test of golf. Its wider fairways and fewer water hazards will encourage a greater sense of "freedom" from the tee than on its sister course. The Del Conte layout is a firm favourite with many of the club's members. Our preference, by a whisker, is the Bonora course, which arguably demands more of the golfer and takes you on a more expansive tour of the "estate".
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends. Closed on Mondays from December thru' Feb.
Must book in advance. Proof of handicap required
Players generally walk this course. Golf carts and Callaway rental clubs available for hire.
