Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort: Situated on three peninsulas that jut into the expansive Blessington Lakes, the majority of this course is played either alongside or within view of this large reservoir, providing a stunning backdrop for the excellent 18-hole layout.
A small pond greets you at the first two holes, a par-5 followed by a par-3, establishing the need for careful course management from the start. Its at the par-3 6th that the big water arrives and the scenic interest really takes off. With a strong and well-maintained parkland layout on gently undulating terrain, Tulfarris provides a fair golfing challenge throughout, with stunning lakeside views from most holes.
Mature oaks, beech and small copses of tall pines all help to create the impression that this course has existed for many, many years. In the fine array of Ireland's lesser known golfing gems, here is one of its crown jewels.

A plaque at the halfway house helpfully explains that the lake at this point is known as Phoulaphouca Lake, translated as The Hole of the Pooka - and a pooka in Ireland is a spirit or ghost.
