Druids Heath Golf Course: Another of Dublin's double-header venues, where two contrasting championship courses combine to test your all-round golfing skills. Like its stablemate Druids Glen, Druids Heath certainly supplies a stern test of those skills.
The layout's heathland credentials are authentic with plenty of gorse and occasional rocky outcrops amongst the undulating and mainly open terrain. Unlike most heathland courses, a magnificent sea view greets you at the first hole ... and not the only water you'll see on your way round.
This par-71 course is no push over as the SSS of 74 from the white tees indicates. Most nerve wracking are the very slick greens. Many are like upturned saucers with severe run-offs, which get more and more frustrating as the round goes on, as yet again your ball runs off the putting surface after a good approach shot.
Some of the fairways here are uncomfortably tight and almost non-existent at the tricky par-4 13th. Generally the fairways are close to each other so beware of what's happening around you on other holes. This is a long and tough course, but one that offers spectacular sea and mountain views.

Druids Glen and Druids Heath are located on what was the Woodstock Estate, which dates back to 1600. Woodstock House, built in 1770, now serves as the Druids Glen clubhouse. The club's name originates from the latin druidae meaning magician or sorcerer, and in particular a druid altar that stood on a hillside overlooking the 12th green on the Druids Glen course.
