Second-placed José Cóceres (Arg), Richard Johnson (Swe) and Brett Rumford (Aus) finished 5 shots behind first-time European Tour winner Fichardt (RSA). Reduced to 54 holes due to bad weather. Played as the Brazil Sao Paulo 500 Years Open (Mar 30-Apr 2; co-sanctioned with Eurpn Tr; one of two 500 Year golf events celebrating Brazil's discovery). Second-placed Gerry Norquist (USA) finished 2 shots behind Harrington (Ire), who claimed his second European Tour win. [Sao Paulo GC, Santo Amoro, Sao Paulo, Brazil].
