Cars are transported onto the island of Sylt by car-trains that run from Niebüll on the mainland. The trains are operated by Autozug Sylt (the Blue Train) and the Sylt Shuttle by Deutsche Bahn (DB).
For Budersand Sylt golf, it's best to use the hotel car park on the east side of the clubhouse. Alternatively there's a small car park on Fernsicht, down the hill on the west side of the clubhouse.
Budersand Sylt
Golfclub Budersand Sylt, part of the impressive Budersand Resort, is home to one of the top-rated and finest championship golf courses in continental Europe. Laid out in an "amphitheatre" beside the sea, the course is surrounded by immense heather-clad dunes. It delivers everything you'd expect from a true links layout.
As you set off from just below the red-brick, slightly nautical style clubhouse, you enjoy views right across the course, and out onto the North Sea. The second tee is at the layout's highest point. You'll quickly discover the "magnetic" properties of the multitude of revetted bunkers, they lurk greenside and along the fairways. The well-spaced holes are complete with rippling fairways that are never opulently wide nor intimidatingly narrow.
Around the greens slick run-off areas complement the bunkers. There's no water to worry about on the front-nine loop, but on the back-nine, played closer to the hotel, a winding water ditch straddles across the last three holes. The arguably more interesting back-nine loop gives the best of the sea views.
Pick of the holes: the bunkerless par-3 13th is a real throwback to the early days of links golf design; the "blind" green is virtually surrounded by a ring of dunes. Two holes later comes the "wee demon" par-3 15th. Here you rub shoulders with the North Sea, while also grabbing your attention are the deep pot bunkers that defend the green.

The island of Sylt (in English promounced "Sult"), is part of the North Frisian Islands in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The island group also includes the Danish Wadden Sea Islands on the western coast of Jutland.
Sylt is mainly noted for tourism, which is a product of its coastal location, healthy climate and the many German celebrities who own houses there. The island boasts three links golf courses, including the highly regarded Budersand Sylt. As you journey southwards on the island towards Budersand Sylt, the sand dunes become ever more impressive.
