From the A8 motorway (Aix-Nice), take exit 40 (Mandelieu) and head north on the D6007 (Av de Cannes), direction La Siagne / Grasse. 100 metres from motorway, after the road swings around to the right, get immediately into left lane. After 100 metres follow the road round to the left, as it makes a u-turn. Immediately after u-turn, turn right into Rue Laurent Gandolphe, which becomes Rue Jean Monnet. After 1.3 km turn left into Blvd Emile Carbon. After 100 metres (crossing over A8 motorway) turn right into Av Robert Schuman. After o.5 km at roundabout, take third exit into Av Louis Pasteur. After 200 metres turn right into Av des Amazones. After 250 metres, golf is on your right.
Formerly known as Golf Cannes-Mandelieu Riviera, now Riviera Golf de Barbossi, this Robert Trent Jones design certainly gives you variety in abundance. Although quite short, at only 5444 metres (5950 yds), your game will be tested on a parkland course that combines partly-open and partly wooded environments in a predominantly natural setting.
Many good looking holes are framed by forested and at times villa-clad hills, which characterise this part of Provence. The layout's middle section, from the short uphill par-4 7th (264 metres) to the even shorter par-4 15th (250 metres), possesses the most elevation changes, at times quite pronounced.
Water flows alongside and through several holes on the flatter opening and closing sections of the course, with a small river (the Riou de l'Argentiere) twice slicing through the short par-4 5th, most notably in front of the green. A relatively short par-3 (139 metres) closes out the round at the 18th, although it rather dwarfs the very short par-3 8th, which measures just 100 metres from the back tees.
With many short holes on offer, lower handicappers could card a flattering score here, although Riviera is not without its defences. The undulating terrain, good greenside bunkering, several tightish holes and frequent water in play, all demand accurate shot-making to stay dry and out of trouble.
Although the Riviera name might have you thinking of views onto the Mediterranean, these are not found from the golf course, even though the bays and beaches of the Cote D'Azur are just 2 km away.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Handicap required.
Players generally walk this course. Golf carts available for hire.

Founded in 1891 by Grand Duke Michael of Russia, the Cannes Golf Club was home for many years to just one golf course. The Old course as it was known, was designed by Harry Colt. It is now known as the "Old course" at Golf Cannes-Mandelieu.
From 1991, and located 1.5 km to the west of the Old course, the club opened a new Robert Trent Jones-designed layout, known at that time as Golf Cannes-Mandelieu Riviera. In 2008 Cannes GC sold the Riviera course, which subsequently became known as Riviera Golf de Barbossi.
