Golf de Pornic: The first hole gives the impression of a rather American-style, open and earth-mounded layout, bounded by holiday apartment buildings, all uniformly three stories in height.
The above description may apply to much of the course, but from the second to the sixth hole (played on the other side of a small road) the character of the course is distinctly different. This is an area of narrow, tree-lined, potential card-wrecking holes, which includes the short par-3 4th where the green is completely obscured by a tall-ish pine tree (how many balls are still in the tree we wonder?).
Back across the road for the 7th, the course re-enters the more open terrain, characterised by its modern layout, where closely interwoven holes are flanked by a few water hazards and excellent bunkering. The greens here are good, but maintenance around them wasn't top-quality when we visited.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Players generally walk this course. Golf carts available for hire.
