Golf de Joyenval

Private: A course for members and their invited guests only.

Est. 1992

Golf de Joyenval: Fanning out to the west of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the Forêt de Marly was formerly home to royal and aristocratic hunting parties, who gave chase to the forest's abundant deer and wild boar. Nowadays the forest also boasts one of the best collections of golf courses to be found around Paris.

On the forest's southern border, the 36-holes of Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche is the standard bearer for the more recently conceived "royal and ancient" game. Tucked into the northwest of the forest is Golf de Joyenval, another excellent, 36-hole, private member's facility.

Joyenval occasionally hosts European Tour events, and even more occasionally opens its doors to a limited number of visitors. The Club's two equally enjoyable courses, the Marly and Retz layouts, both occupy surprisingly open, linksy terrain, with woodland skirting the perimeter holes.

In this pleasantly scenic golfing environment, the principal hazards are provided by Trent Jones' impressive bunkering, as well as long, grassy rough that lines many holes. With good-width, nicely rolling (though never excessively undulating) fairways, tough-to-read greens and a few water hazards also in play, both Joyenval's courses will test and challenge your all-round game.

Limited access: this is a private course generally playable only by members and their invited guests. If you are keen to play here, some outside visitor opportunities may be available in August.
