Leave the M3 at exit 3, and follow the A322 direction Guildford. After 5.3 miles West Hill golf is on your left, just after the Total filling station and the Brookwood cross-roads traffic lights.
West Hill Golf Club: together with its neighbours Woking and Worplesdon, West Hill makes up the north west Surrey trio of courses known as the three W's. Each is an excellent ambassador for Surrey-Berkshire heathland golf, and at one point the three almost physically join (but not quite).
The view down onto the course from the clubhouse and first tee at West Hill will fire your imagination for the pleasures of the round to come. Here you'll find a layout offering some tight drives between towering Scots pines, and other more forgiving stretches. The bunkering is some of the best around; always neat, strategically positioned and often trimmed with a bonnie heather face. The fast true greens are a pleasure to putt on.
It's advisable to take a strokesaver on a first visit. This will help identify water ditches that come into play on several holes. You'll not need too much assistance to spot the copious amounts of heather than line the holes; staying out of it is another matter altogether.
Gentle undulation throughout the whole course adds another scenic dimension to the layout, without the need to make any climbs that are onerous or tiring. It is easy to see why West Hill was one of the favourite courses of renowned player and commentator Peter Alliss. It served for several years as the home of his popular television programme, "A Round with Alliss," for those who are old enough to remember that far back!
Visitors welcome on weekdays, and weekends (after 2pm).
Must book in advance. Maximum permitted handicap 24; proof of handicap not required.

Good
West Hill is often used for Surrey County events and has occasionally been used for qualifying rounds for professional tournaments. The course, which opened in 1909, was commissioned by a widow, Mrs Marguerite Lubbock, essentially for her new husband, Geoffrey Lubbock. For many years this was the home club of the famous English cricketing twins, Sir Alec and Eric Bedser.
