Farnham
Farnham Golf Club: often referred to as "Farnham Sands" or just "The Sands", and originally known as the "Binton Links", here you will find another of Surrey's classic heathland gems.
On this out-and-back layout, you'll pass copious quantities of fairway-lining heather and tall elegant Scots pine as you journey towards the not overly large and often circular greens. These excellent putting surfaces will deftly test you skills with the short stick.
Visitors welcome on weekdays, and weekends (more restricted).
Must book in advance. Handicap required.

Good
Although located many miles from the sea, the Club's logo features a rather handsome sailing frigate. Amongst the club's top events is the Silver Frigate Competition, first played in 1934. The actual model frigate (reputedly Sir Francis Drake's ship, the Golden Hind), can be found as part of the weathervane atop Farnham's old Town Hall (junction of Castle St and The Borough, in Farnham's historic town centre).
And why a ship, so far inland? Apparently it reflects the huge maritime-related traffic that journeyed between London and the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth ... in days of old! This might also explain why, at one time, Farnham had more pubs, inns and coaching houses than most other towns in Surrey and Hampshire.
Farnham GC is located just to the east of the town of Farnham, in an area known as The Sands. It is part of a rural administrative parish, together with the nearby village of Seale. Both villages sit close to the Hog's Back, a hilly ridge and eponymous local road that connects Farnham with the cathedral city of Guildford.
The Sentry: known for many years as the Tournament of Champions, the PGA Tour’s 2025 season-opener gets underway on Kapalua’s Plantation course (Jan 2-5). Chris Kirk defends.
Tournament of Champions: the LPGA Tour’s 2025 season is launched at Lake Nona with the their Tournament of Champions (Jan 30-Feb 2). The 2024 edition gave Lydia Ko her 20th LPGA Tour title.
Attahya Thitikul: also known as “Jeeno”, the Thai golfer won the LPGA Tour’s 2024 CME Group Tour Championship … and an eye-watering $4 million, the richest first-prize in women’s golf.
Rory McIlroy: scooped the 2024 European (DP World) Tour season-long Order of Merit title, joining Seve Ballesteros as a six-time winner of this prestigious award.
Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.
Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
