Dartmouth G&CC
Dartmouth Golf & Country Club: It's a small wonder that a golf course could be constructed amongst the tight folding hills of this area of rural Devon. Not only was this accomplished, but a very good golf course was the result. Although undulating, many of the holes are well-sited along the valley floors or up on the higher, more open ground.
With many tightish holes, sparing use of the driver is advised until you get to know the course better, and even then you'll need to be straight off the tee. The par-3s provide a good test of your shot-making ability, with water lurking dangerously on three of them and a 200+ yard carry needed at the 7th and 18th (which combines both water and length).
The overall impression is a layout that is both fair and constantly challenging. From the back tees, at 7200 yards, revise that to very challenging. The sea may occasionally be glimpsed in the far distance, but most of all you'll remember the beautiful views across the folding Devon countryside and the innate peacefulness of this enjoyably natural location.
