Hong Kong GC (New)
The renowned Hong Kong Golf Club at Fanling offers three well-regarded and attractive 18-hole layouts, namely the Old, New and Eden courses. These mainly tree-lined parkland layouts each deliver plenty of golfing challenge, combined with many attractive features and excellent upkeep.
Opened in 1931, the New course is the longest of the layouts at Fanling, and is generally regarded as the Club's top "tournament" course. Eight of its holes feature in the Hong Kong Open "‘Composite layout" (with ten from the Eden course), while it annually plays host to the men’s and ladies Hong Kong Amateur Championships.
Compared to its siblings, the New has relatively spacious fairways, and some of the more testing "water hazard" holes, with either small ponds or ditches in play. On this out-and-back layout the holes frequently rub shoulders with those of the Eden course. The good-length par-4 1st and par-5 14th share the same double-green.

Queen Victoria conferred the Royal prefix on the Hong Kong Golf Club in its founding year (1889). At its 1996 Annual General Meeting, the club resolved to drop the Royal title, ahead of the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China in 1997.
The club originally played in Happy Valley, a location shared with many other activities. As the club expanded, the need for a more permanent home was addressed with the building of a small nine hole course at Deep Water Bay, before the club eventually moved to its current location in Fanling. It has been the home of the Hong Kong Open since the event's inauguration in 1959 (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Hong Kong GC).
