Established in 1899, the Royal Regina Golf Club is Saskatchewan's first and oldest golf club. It received Royal status in its centenary year.

Royal Regina is one of six golf clubs in Canada honoured by exercise of the Sovereign's royal prerogative. The six are: Royal Montreal (prefix conferred in 1884 by Queen Victoria); Royal Ottawa (1912, George V); Royal Colwood, BC (1931, George V); Royal Quebec (1934, George V); Royal Regina, Sask. (1999, Elizabeth II); Royal Mayfair, Alb. (2005, Elizabeth II).

Royal Regina has enjoyed a 100-year association with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, with a display of RCMP artifacts in the clubhouse and a Mountie on the club crest.
