Did you know?

Originally opening under the name Whitby Golf Club, the name was quickly changed to Thunderbird Golf Club, as it was known for many years. Thunderbird was then renamed as Royal Ashburn GC in 2000.

The new name with its Royal prefix was introduced to commemorate the visit of Prince Andrew, Duke of York in 1999. It also tied the club more closely into the community of Ashburn, which was celebrating its 150th anniversary in the year 2000. Royal Ashburn's logo is a Coat of Arms granted to the Club in 2006 by Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada.
