Golfpark Böhmerwald, open to visitors on weekdays and weekends, occupies a natural and quiet setting amongst the open countryside and forests of the Mühlviertel "quarter" of Upper Austria. Located just 5 km from the border with Germany, the undulating slopes of Böhmerwald are home to a pleasant and predominantly open parkland layout.
Plenty of gently dog-legging holes, and half a dozen with noticeable elevation change, lead you to relatively small, well bunker-defended greens. Water also comes into play on a few occasions, but not too frequently. Distances between greens and the next tees are generally short, which ensures an enjoyable walking experience, albeit with a few slopes to climb.
Along the way you'll enjoy wonderful views across open farmland and onto tree-covered hills, with many attractive villages and open skies completing the scene. There are no houses, roads or pylons on or around the course. And none intruding into the surrounding views, which allows you to focus on your golf game and the sweeping vistas that the Mühlviertel offers.
Pick of the holes: the rifle-straight "signature" par-4 13th plays downhill, a small pond and stream crossing in front of the green. The surrounding wooded hills provide an attractive backdrop to this testing hole.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends during the golf season (generally mid-April thru' mid-November ... snow dependent!).
Must book in advance.
Players generally walk this course. Golf carts available for hire. Böhmerwald is a dog-friendly golf course; dogs must be kept on a leash.
Excellent
The holiday region of Böhmerwald (Bohemian Forest) is located in the Upper Mühlviertel, the border triangle of Upper Austria that borders Bavaria in Germany and the Czech Republic. This picturesque Mühlviertel landscape, home to linseed oil, art weavers, Adalbert Stifter (Austrian writer, poet, and educationalist) and a special brewing tradition, has inspired locals and visitors alike.
