Ocean Shores
Ocean Shores Country Club: Just north of where the river Brunswick flows into the Pacific Ocean at Brunswick Heads, Von Hagge's well-crafted layout at Ocean Shores will provide an enjoyable golfing challenge.
Quietly set amongst natural flora and tidal lakes, the layout starts with a scenic par-5, which gets you down to much flatter terrain, in which most of the ensuing holes are located. The relatively open front-nine weaves its way around several small lakes and ponds, with water hazards very much in play on several holes.
After journeying back up to, and then down again from the scenically elevated clubhouse, the more natural and interesting back-nine takes you on a wonderful excursion through the course's most attractive stretches. The 10th tee commands a wonderful view over surrounding wooded hills, before dropping you down again to the layout's lower section.
On the second nine-hole loop, the feel is distinctly more tree-lined, with predominantly melaleuca (paperbark) trees lining the generally good-width fairways . Tropical palms and "flame of the forest" trees also provide a haven for the abundant birdlife.
Around the perimeter, but not too close to be in range, local housing looks onto the course. The more you play at Ocean Shores the more you'll appreciate the challenges thrown down by its water-laden front-nine and more tree-lined and natural back-nine.

Originally inhabited by people of the Bundjalung nation, the Brunswick River was charted by Captain Rous in 1828. He named the river after Queen Caroline of Brunswick.
The first European settlers (c.1849) to the area were cedar getters Steve King, and John and Edward Boyd. The cedar logs were rafted to Brunswick Heads, then hauled by bullocks into the ocean, where they were winched onto sailing ships. The only access to the outside world was by boat, which resulted in several ships bringing essential supplies being wrecked crossing the treacherous bar. The local Aboriginal people helped rescue the shipwrecked sailors.
124th US Open: the No.2 Course at Pinehurst once again plays host to this most illustrious championship (June 13-16). Wyndham Clark defends his title, having won at Los Angeles CC in 2023.
79th Women’s US Open: the second women’s major championship of the season gets underway at Lancaster CC in Pennsylvania. It’s the second time the championship has been held here.

Nelly Korda: won the Mizuho Americas Open (May 16-19) at Liberty National GC, continuing her extraordinary form in LPGA events. This was her sixth win in seven starts in 2024.
Xander Schauffele: recorded his first major championship win, and second record-equalling low score of 62 in a major. Only he, Branden Grace, Rickie Fowler and Shane Lowry have achieved this feat in a men’s major championship.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
