Olivos Golf Club, located in Pablo Nogués in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, is home to a highly-rated tree-lined parkland layout. Considered by many as “Argentina's Augusta National”, Olivos was designed by Luther Koontz (a course shaper who had worked for the great Dr Alister MacKenzie). The course has hosted the Argentine Open and Argentine Masters on several occasions.
On three sides the course perimeter is flanked by unobtrusive upmarket homes, not that you'll see or notice them most of the time. The expansive area of 27 holes, containing the White, Red and Blue nines, possesses several attractive elevation changes and plenty of tree-lined fairways. The solidly bunker-defended good-sized greens, also contain their fair share of slopes and borrows.
Pick of the holes: the par-5 15th (Red-nine; par-4 for professional events) has been counted amongst the top 500 holes in the world. This doglegging hole responds well to a long tee shot, if you intend to set up a heroic tilt at the green. The approach shot must carry water in front of the bunker-defended green. A challenging and handsome risk-reward hole.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends. Closed Mondays.
Must book in advance.
