Sebonack Golf Club

Private: A course for members and their invited guests only.

Est. 2005

Sebonack Golf Club is home to one of the top-rated and finest championship golf courses in the American northeast. The excellent duneland, links layout sits alongside Long Island’s Great Peconic Bay and Cold Spring Pond, offering scenic views of both. Also alongside is the much revered National Golf Links of America.

Course designers C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor had much to do with fashioning golf in this area in the early 1900s. The much younger Sebonack uniquely benefitted from the collaborative input of two titans of modern golf course architecture, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak.

Using the terrain's sandy-base and natural contours, the rolling fairways are liberally laced with expansive bunkers and sprawling waste areas. The undulating greens are home to many testing slopes and borrows.

Limited access: this private course is generally playable only by members and their invited guests.

Amongst many top level tournaments hosted by Sebonack, the club staged the US Women's Open in 2013.

Located in the Town of Southampton, Long Island. close to the shores of Great Peconic Bay, is a quartet of revered private courses that sit cheek by jowl. Oldest of the four is Shinnecock Hills (1891), where William S. Flynn is largely responsible for today's layout. Adjoining Shinnecock to the east, and also "landlocked", is Southampton Golf Club (1925), designed by Seth Raynor.

North of Shinnecock, and directly alongside Peconic Bay, is the National Golf Links of America (1908), laid out by Charles Blair Macdonald and constructed by his protégé Seth Raynor. Much the junior of the four, and also bayside, is Sebonack Golf Club (2005), a modern links course collaboratively designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Doak.
